As a service sorority, Tau Lambda Sigma actively and passionately supports its philanthropies. American Cancer
Society Our main philanthropy is the American Cancer Society (ACS). According to their mission statement, "the American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service." The women of Tau Lambda Sigma strive to promote the mission statement of ACS. We continuously raise funds throughout the year to provide ACS with the needed support to continue their large-scale endeavors. Each Spring, we participate in the Adair County Relay for Life.
Kirksville Manor Care Center Tau Lambda Sigma regularly makes visits to Kirksville Manor Care Center, a local nursing home. Many of our members choose to "Adopt-A-Grandparent" residing in Manor Care and visit them often. In the past, we have hosted holiday parties and other events for the residents.
Adair County Humane Society The Adair County Humane Society is a small, privately run, non-profit animal shelter located in Kirksville. The women of Tau Lambda Sigma make several visits weekly to the shelter to help with anything, from cleaning cages to walking dogs. Please visit their website here for additional information or to view some of the pets available for adoption!
Tau Lambda Sigma also supports other philanthropies, including: Ray Miller Elementary School Tutoring, Recycling Center, Special Olympics, and many, many more! Please contact us if you would like our assistance in any way! |
